Singer/songwriter/pianist Katherine Farnham is a summa cum laude graduate of Boston's acclaimed BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC. Her style as an artist has been described as "Nora Jones meets Kelly Clarkson". Classically trained by her musician parents, she first sang in public at age 5, and went on to earn scholarships to the international Tanglewood Institute for piano.
Her music combines a beautiful, four-octave voice with a passionate and dramatic approach to the piano. Lyrically, she writes of love, passion, hope and myth with a thoughtful integrity that both illuminates and entertains. Throughout it all though, is a constant message and celebration of the power of the human spirit.
|
Katherine has appeared on Good Morning America, NBC 6, Telemundo, the AT&T Amphitheatre and at many venues across the US. She performed with Tito Puente Jr. at the Miami Marathon and Celia Cruz at MusicFest Miami and was recognized by The Recording Academy for writing, recording, and co-producing Miami's Theme Song called "Mosaic/Mosaico". Her most recent recording project features arrangements by Doug Emery (Barbra Streisand).

Lisa Marie Maestas
Drums, Percussion
myspace.com/lisamarieandspaceyt
Hi. My name is Lisa Marie Maestas. I was born in Denver, CO where I grew up in a loving and supportive family that always encouraged me to follow my dreams and pursue my passion. I discovered my passion for music at an early age and began my musical training at the age of 10 playing drums with my Elementary School concert band. I continued my training throughout my Junior High and High school years playing in the school orchestra, marching band and jazz band. In 1992 I attended the Art Institute of Colorado where I studied Music and Video Production.
|
Since then I have recorded and performed as a lead singer and drummer with various national touring bands opening for internationally recognized recording artists such as Megadeth, Disturbed, Hazel Miller and Sonia Dada, among others. I have had the pleasure of performing with members of Fishbone, Ozomatli, Rage Against the Machine and Parliament Funkadelic. In 2005, I decided to make my permanent residence in Los Angeles working as a session musician and performing in top venues such as The House of Blues, BB Kings, The Vault , Above the Rox, and The Hotel Café, to name a few. Since moving to LA, I have also had the privilege of performing benefit shows with Tom Morello of RATM, the NightWatchman and Audioslave. I also volunteer with Axis of Justice which is a non-profit organization formed by Tom Morello and Serj Tankian of System of a Down. Its purpose is to bring together musicians, fans of music, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice. In 2006, I signed a 3 song production deal with Peter Distefano of Porno For Pyros and Sanctuary records. Currently, I am recording my debut solo album to be released in 2008. I and am thrilled to have Spacey T, formerly of Fishbone and Sound Barrier on guitars and bass. You can enjoy our music at myspace.com/lisamarieandspaceyt. I have always enjoyed teaching drumming / percussion lessons and was very happy to be introduced to Sound Art LA this year. I absolutely love being a music instructor for Sound Art LA! If one child is inspired enough to continue to play music then we have made a difference. The world needs more musicians! Today, more than ever, our youth needs to be guided in the right direction so they can pursue their artistic and creative dreams confidently. I believe that if music skills are taught at an early age, that child has a better chance at a promising future.

Remi Dapere
Guitar, Bass
remidapere.com
As far as he can recall, the music has always been in Remi. At age 4, having taken private lessons in Solfege and Recorder, he basically knew how to read music before words; he has always been better with music than words, for that matter. Attending the conservatory for a good part of his childhood, he basically has been fed with the spirit of the Beatles and that of other fabulous bands from his baby bottle. Not before long, he began playing the drumset in a rock band.
Moving on to Paris and to the Bass Guitar, Remi explored different musical genres through performing, recording and touring with bands. He had shared the stage with FFF on their last tour.
|
A detour through Jazz studies at The American School Of Modern Music opens the door to new horizons (arranging, composing, form freeing) and to a Scholarship to Berklee College of Music, from which he graduated with a degree in Film Scoring. Classical music has made its appearance in his life, expanding his already eclectic array of influences.
Remi currently resides in Los Angeles, where he teaches for Sound Art and is involved with composing-producing-arranging-orchestrating-programming-copying-performing. Some of his credits include Hollywood Blockbusters (Ghost Rider, The Grudge 2), Independent Features (Road To Victory, The Providence) Orchestration (Yo-Yo Ma & The Silk Road Ensemble). He’s the recipient of the François De Roubaix Award for Best Remix.
He’s collaborated with estimable composers Christopher Young (Spider Man III), Gregor Narholz (VideoGames Battlefield 2142, X-Men Legends) Yuval Ron (West Bank Story) and Mark Kilian (Tsotsi, Day Break).
He's currently teaching at Sound Art, a non-profit organization aimed to bring music to the underserved youth of Los Angeles. |

George Friend
Guitar
George Friend hails from Marquette, MI. where he grew up playing guitar and studying jazz through a Michigan Artist in the Schools program. While his parents where both arts teachers, he was very lucky to have had the chance to learn first hand from professional musicians how to play music. During these years George was able to
receive scholarships to Michigan Tech University Summer Jazz studies and University of Wisconsin Green Bay Summer Jazz programs.
|
George continued study at Wayne State University in Detroit while playing professionally at night and teaching private guitar lessons to earn a living. "I started teaching when I was 22, and have never stopped because it is so rewarding. I love to pass on the knowledge and to see young students succeed on their instrument...it's so much fun to see their faces glow with pride and accomplishment."
George has travelled the world playing music in various groups including Robert Gordon, Thornetta Davis, Janiva Magness and with his own bands. He has also made hundreds of recordings including his own CD entitled "Looka Here" on BluesLeaf records.
"I have been touring and performing since I was 15 years old...I've been to Europe 10 times or so, Canada...even Russia. I've played in almost every state in the U.S. 3 or 4 times...being a musician is like spreading love all over the world and getting paid to do it!! I really love the chance to pass my experiences onto new generations through teaching and help guide students on how to be a working musician...it took me a long time to 'learn' how to make a living at it..but I've done very well. It's great to pass these things on because so much of music education is geared toward being a virtuoso instead of being able to work and have fun."
George has been with Sound Art since 2003 and resides in Long Beach, CA with his wife Ofelia and son Ruben.
