YAY! It's almost Summer at Sound Art!
We'll be working with the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department again this summer offering Music LA at Park Parthenia in Northridge, California.
We've added a new class! Drum & Bass!
Kids are lining up to take this class - while a lot of "grown-ups" may not know that the combination of drums and bass guitar makes ALL the difference, our students "get it" and can't get enough of it!
Sound Art @ Para Los Ninos!
We are teaching Guitar Method and Recording and Production at the Para Los Ninos Community Center in South Los Angeles. We're in our second week and so far, it's amazing. Want to visit? Just give us a call and we'll take you to where it's all happening!
Here's What's Really Important To Us!
At the core of the Sound Art method is a belief in the innovation and creativity of youth. By teaching contemporary music styles such as blues, jazz, rock, R&B and hip hop we provide an outlet for that creativity in a language that is specific to today’s youth.
Sound Art believes strongly that in order to prepare young people for careers in the ever changing music industry we must fully introduce them to the musical tools of today.
Sound Art has a unique approach to teaching the theoretical and technical tools necessary to understand and enjoy playing music. Further, our method is transferable to any instrumentation and/or genre.
Sound Art is mobile. We believe that living in urban neighborhoods with severe economic and social challenges does not disqualify them from having a quality music education program in their communities. Therefore, we go to them making it easy for kids and their families to take part in our classes.
Sound Art Receives a Gift from Board Member, Gary Burton
With characteristic generosity and style, Gary Burton has given the Sound Art office five brand new Macintosh computers- an iBook, a MacBook Pro and three iMacs with 20 inch screens and a Time Capsule back up system - for our office. Not only is Gary a world class musician with a long and distinguished career, but he's been a supporter and Board Member of Sound Art since DAY ONE! You've got to check out Gary's web site! Thank you, Gary.
