Keyboard Method And Ensemble
Keyboard Method and Ensemble is designed for grades 6-12. Through our hands-on teaching method, students learn about the structure of music so they can create their own compositions and better understand the work of other composers.
Drum and Bass Ensemble
The drums and the bass guitar (or acoustic bass) are the most important elements in any band for keeping a coherent and “danceable” tempo and time-feel. In this ensemble, students learn the techniques of playing these two instruments and the techniques of playing them together to form the foundation for a band. This class is for 6 - 12th grade age group.
Band Ensemble
The purpose of all this musical learning is to put it together and play with other musicians. Our Band Ensemble classes teach all genres of popular music with a focus on instrumental technique, listening skills and performance. This class is for 6-12th grade ages.
Music, Lyrics and Production
In this class we teach students how to use the current software and computer tools to create their own compositions. Students write songs and record them. It is a collaborative experience and very often creates a highly charged artistic environment in the classroom. This class is for 6-12th grade ages.
Our approach is to teach relevant and engaging popular music to at-risk children who are often disillusioned and frustrated with their educational experiences.
Our programs follow an apprenticeship model by creating a classroom environment that imitates the actual creative world of a working musician.
Through one-on-one interactions and demonstrations, Sound Art places the focus of learning on the cultural norms of a musician’s trade: practice, rehearsal, working with peers, caring for an instrument, and the language of music.
